CCTV Drain Survey in Farnham, Surrey
Location:
Farnham, Surrey
Project:
To carry out drainage investigations on damp problems.
What was involved:
We were recently asked to visit a commercial building in Farnham, Surrey. They asked us to carry out drainage investigations on the damp problems with the building M1.
To start, we used a CCTV drain survey to investigate a gully in the block paving area positioned on the main road by the entrance doors. We went downstream from the gully, which took us out 10 metres approximately, into an MH chamber. This pipework had no visual damage, but joints were fairly open and the risk of leaking water was high. We recommended relining the pipework 10 metres long.
Following this, we took apart a rainwater downpipe and then used CCTV to investigate. We found that the pipework had collapsed. We couldn't work out whether someone had already tried to repair it or whether it was like that from the initial build!
The pipework started as brown PVC before joining into this ribbed pipework, which had collapsed. This pipework flows from the downpipe and underneath the office floor, which would normally need excavation to repair. However, three metres away from the downpipe, there was a gully. Once the gully has been lined and repaired, it will be suitable enough for the downpipe water to be connected to. Only then can the collapsed pipework be cut away and filled in.
